Torn by K.A. Robinson

Two people with battered souls are thrust together unexpectedly, leaving a profound impact on each other’s lives.

In K.A. Robinson’s USA Today bestselling debut novel, Torn,Chloe hasn’t had the easiest childhood. With a mother who was absent most of the time, she practically had to raise herself. Determined to start a new life and leave her demons behind, she heads to West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan. On the first day of classes, she spots a student who takes her breath away. Drake is a pierced, tattooed bad boy, and no matter how hard she tries to fight it, he’s all she can think about.

Drake has never cared about anyone other than himself, but when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, he is instantly drawn to her. Drake is left wondering whether this girl can take his cold, womanizing heart and alter him forever.

Falling for each other was never a part of their plan, and when it happens, things do anything but fall into place. Long-hidden feelings are revealed and friendships are tested to the brink as Chloe and Drake become helplessly entwined in each other’s love.

My Review

LOVED this book! I finished it in a day. Tattoos. Piercings. Bad Boy. Chloe takes a seat next to Drake on her first day in class at WVU. Now she can’t get her mind off of him. She sees again again later, and finds out he is the lead singer in a band.  Drake isn’t one to have a relationship. He goes through the women, the groupies, with no thoughts about after. He is feeling a connection to Chloe, like she feels with him. Once they start to to fall for each other, enters the “triangle”. You knew that was bound to happen.

Tempers, sex, love, hate…..come get it all in Torn! Come see their mistakes, and journey they made to end up where they did.

As with all books there are downsides. I did find that Chloe was too emotional. Cried a lot (which I do when it comes to books, just not IRL…hehe). There were things that she did in the book, that could have been handled better, but at the same time she is young. Starting her first year in college. I know I had done things around that age that could have been handled better or just not done it at all. Life is for exploring and learning. She made her mistakes, the best is to learn from it and correct it if you can.

I would have loved to have the story from Drakes POV as well as Chloe’s. I think it would have made this book even better!

Left Drowning by Jessica Park

Left Drowning

My Review

I have been reading more of the New Adult (NA) books here lately. This book pulls you in, and keeps you in the story. I loved Blythe and Chris. Each have dealt with their own family past, and learn to come to terms with it throughout the book. I really enjoyed the twist that came with each of their history. There is so much emotion throughout the story. It’s hard not to get sucked into the book!

Blythe has been in her own stupor since the death of her parents. If you had not read the synopsis before reading the book, the beginning may be a bit confusing. I hadn’t read it since I requested the book from Net Galley, and reading the first few pages I wasn’t sure what was up. The further I read, the more I understood.

Since the death of her parents, Blythe hasn’t seen much meaning to life. She doesn’t have much in the way of family. She has a younger brother, and her aunt that took her in. Throughout the story you learn about the guilt she is left with when it comes to the night of her parents death. During her last year of college she meets Chris Shepard, and he helps pull her out of her stupor. He is able to bring her out of a place that she has been for the past few years, something that Blythe wasn’t sure could happen.

Giveaway: Music of the Heart

I was browsing looking for a new book, and decided to give away a copy of what I plan on buying this weekend. Up for grabs this week is Music of the Heart by Katie Ashley.

Music of the Heart (Runaway Train, #1)

For Abby Renard, the plan was supposed to be simple—join her brothers’ band on the last leg of their summer tour and decide if she’s finally ready for the limelight by becoming its fourth member. Of course, she never imagined stumbling onto the wrong tour bus at Rock Nation would accidentally land her in the bed of Jake Slater, the notorious womanizing lead singer of Runaway Train. When he mistakes her for one of his groupie’s, Abby quickly lets him know she sure as hell isn’t in his bed on purpose.Jake Slater never imagined the angel who fell into his bed would resist his charms by promptly kneeing him in the balls. Of course, the fact she seems like a prissy choir girl makes her anything but his type. So he is more than surprised when after betting Abby she wouldn’t last a week on their tour bus, she is more than willing to prove him wrong. But as Jake’s personal life begins to implode around him, he finds an unlikely ally in Abby. He’s never met a woman he can talk to, joke with, or most importantly make music with.

As the week starts comes to a close, neither Abby nor Jake is ready to let go. Can a sweetheart Country songstress and a bad boy of Rock N Roll actually have a future together?

 My Review

I devoured this book in a day. I enjoyed the emotions I felt with the first book, and Second Heart was just as emotional. I would have been satisfied with the end of the first one, and it be a stand alone. I am VERY happy that did not happen! While this book wasn’t AS great as the first book, it was still amazing! Second Hearts brings you more tears, laughter, heartbreak, love, anger, and so much more.

Charli took a risk when she went to NY to see Adam, and I loved that. I believe in trying things, even if it was a risk. You won’t always wonder “what if”. Even the risk of traveling like she did before heading to NY. It is something I hope that my son does, before college. Take some time and travel. See the world. I plan on that being his high school graduation present. 🙂

Second Hearts is another that may have you crying, so be sure to have a box of tissue with you. Isn’t it wonderful reading a book that pulls you into their world, that it seems as if you are right there. Feeling what they feel, see what they see. I truly look forward to reading more from G.J. Walker-Smith.

Saving Wishes by GJ Walker-Smith

For Charli Blake, being seventeen is a tough gig.

She’s been branded a troublemaker, her reputation is in tatters and she’s stuck in Pipers Cove, a speck of a town on the coast of Tasmania.

Thankfully, it’s temporary. Her lifelong dream of travelling the world is just months away from becoming reality. All she has to do is ride out the last few months of high school, which is easier said than done thanks to a trio of mean girls known as The Beautifuls.
When Adam Décarie arrives in town, all the way from New York, life takes an unexpected turn. His arrival sets off a chain of events that alters her life forever, convincing her of one thing. Fate brought him to her.

Saving Wishes is the story of a girl who doesn’t quite fit the life she’s living, and the boy who helps her realise why.

My Review

*Copy provided by NetGally*

I just got back from Australia. It was about a 2 month trip spent in Pipers Cove, a wonderful small town. Now my first day there it was pouring down rain. Walking out to my car I almost got ran over! But, am I ever so glad that it happened! I met “Boy Wonder”! Did I mention he is part French? There started what was probably the best 2 months of my life. I experienced love, sorrow, anger, contentment. I laughed and cried, felt brave, and sometimes unsure.

I experienced all this within 8 days. Now, how did I spent 2 months in Australia in 8 days?

Saving Wishes by GJ Walker-Smith. Charlotte (better known as Charli) is 17 years old and lives in Piper’s Cove, Tasmania. Not much happens in that small town. She lives with her brother, Alex. She only has a few months left before graduations, and then she will be out of Piper’s Cove. Upon meeting Adam Decarie, her life changes in many different ways.

A beautifully written story that pulled me through so many emotions! I spent at least an hour crying while reading this book. Walker-Smith took me on a journey with Charli. Through her learning about herself, who she is, while also having doubts other times. She felt love, heartbreak, happiness, sadness….so many emotions. Saving Wishes pulled me into the world of Pipers Cove.

I recommend Saving Wishes if you like NA/YA – contemporary. It’s a fabulous read! I was captured from the moment I started reading! Now that I have finished Saving Wishes I am very excited to start on Second Hearts, and I don’t even have to wait on it!

Kiss Me in Paris by Kimberly Kincade

KMIP lips              Kiss Me in Paris

Travel to the most romantic city in the world and fall in love with Winter and Cade!

If reviewers can be believed—and OF COURSE they can be—then Kiss Me in Paris is an epic tale of love, romance, family, friendship and forgiveness. For those of you who might think this book is just another insipid romance, not so my friend.

Not so.

You will pee your pants laughing and cry your eyes out weeping. You will become so angry you might need to punch something, and you will sigh in pure happiness. One reviewer even left part of her soul IN THE WORDS OF OUR BOOK.

Yes, this is the power of Kiss Me in Paris. It’s SOUL STEALING, and we are not going to apologize for that.

You see, we are the authors, and we are married, living our own epic romance. So epic we even had a fan-following during the early days of our courtship. So we know love.

And we know you will love Kiss Me in Paris—a book that has garnered only FIVE STAR REVIEWS on Amazon as of the writing of this, and, we hope, forever and always!

This week is our wedding anniversary, and Kiss Me in Paris is our first book baby, so we’re celebrating by offering this EPIC SAGA for only $2.99. That’s $2 off launch price and less than the cost of a cup of coffee.

And it’s fat free, gluten free, calorie free and won’t stain your teeth.

It will also take you longer to read than a cup of coffee takes you drink, and it will give you an entire adventure in Paris. Unless you’re drinking your coffee right there in the city of love, no coffee is going to do that for you.

If you are drinking your coffee in Paris right now, then firstly, we’re jealous (send us a postcard, mmkay?), and secondly, still read this book, because PARIS. And LOVE. And EPICNESS.

Here’s the part where we tell you about the book, but it’s really not enough to do it justice. So let us first say that there is just so much in Kiss Me in Paris. Layered themes and a sexy cowboy studying to be an architect, and a girl who’s a dreamer with a dark past, and gargoyles and Notre Dame and mazes designed by futuristic architects (because that’s an actual thing, and Cade will tell you what that means), and heartbreak and love and happy endings and evil and just SO MUCH.

But here’s the ‘official’ blurb about Kiss Me in Paris.

Kiss Me In Paris

When the city of love brings two lost souls together, only their darkest secrets can tear them apart.

Winter Deveaux tried love once. It didn’t end well. Unable to open herself up to another heartbreak, she hides in her romance novels as she struggles to break out as a real author. She thinks Paris holds the answer to a new start, but when her nightmare follows her across the world, she’s forced to face the darkness living like cancer inside her soul. If she doesn’t, she might miss her chance to become the kind of writer she’s always wanted to be. But more than that, she’ll miss out on the greatest love she’s ever known.

Cade Savage is heir to the largest ranching family in Texas. Part cowboy, part architect, Cade has his feet forever in two worlds. When he receives an acceptance letter from the school of his dreams, he must decide between family and destiny. But ghosts from his past still haunt him, and circumstances beyond his control may decide his fate.

When Winter and Cade meet, everything they believe about life, love and what it means to be happy is put to the test.

Will the magic of Paris pull these two lost souls together? Or will their darkest secrets tear them apart?

Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Full length novel: 87, 000 words

Kiss Me in Paris is a standalone novel in the Kiss Me Series. Travel the world with the Deveaux sisters as they find love, and trouble, in all the right places.

Reviews are in for Kiss Me in Paris

5 stars “I experienced every emotion as each character felt it. Every tear, every laugh, all of the fear, anxiety, and stress, I experienced every last bit of it. And even though this is a romance, there are tears. I cried more times reading Kiss Me in Paris than I did watching Nicholas Sparks’ The Last Song. Kiss Me in Paris left me hollow when I finally finished it. I feel as if a piece of me was left in the words as I read <this is where the book STEALS SOULS>. And for once, I have a book to call my favorite.” ~Merumei on Amazon

5 stars “A timeless and beautiful love story that will sweep you off your feet, but it’s also much more than that. <We’re not making this part up. These are real reviews.>” ~Amy Conley, Amazon

5 stars “Beautifully drawn characters and stunning pallets that bring you in to Paris itself. <Where else are you going to get a trip to Paris for $2.99. WHERE?>” ~Stormy, Amazon

Some favorite quotes from Kiss Me in Paris

  • “One star breaks off from the others, shooting across the sky, a bright light trailing behind it, and I finally understand why people wish on dying stars. Because something always has to die for life to give birth to a new dream. “

  • “Paris is pregnant with layers of history, colored with the ink of artists who dared to dream of a world only they could see.”

  • “It’s like I’m giving birth from my mouth.” <You’ll understand this when you get to chapter 5. Then you’ll pee your pants laughing.>

  • “It’s the nature of being human that, in our own blindness, we lash out and blind others.”

  • “I think of Winter, of her smile, her eyes, her arms wrapped around me, and I know where home is. It’s wherever she is, and right now she is too far away. My heart has escaped my body and is walking Paris without me.”

  • “She opened herself to him, and, in that moment, she opened herself to the world. Let it hurt her. Let it burn her veins, boil her blood and scorch her heart. For where there could be pain, there could be pleasure and love. She would be cold no longer. She would melt the hearts of others, and in turn, they would melt hers. She would feel the full spectrum of emotions and cry. She would be human. And she would be happy.”

And this is just a SAMPLE. It’s like hearing an inside joke if you weren’t at the party. So go to the party, and by this stretched metaphor we mean READ THE BOOK. Then you can laugh and *le sigh* and cry and be a part of the cool crowd.

Also, we have a blog post over at where we write about our first kiss. And we had our first kiss within 5 minutes of being face to face for the first time. Intrigued? Check it out here and enter more giveaways! >>

Pick up your copy of Kiss Me in Paris on Amazon, B&N, and wherever ebooks are sold (Except iBooks, sadly, because they are taking FOREVER to publish books. So if you have an iPad, iPhone or iAnything, get an Amazon app for free and you’re set). Look for the paperback and hardback coming soon.

I love being able to read a book where I feel like I know the characters, and get to feel I wide range of emotions with them. Kiss Me in Paris is one of my top books of the year. You know you have a wonderful setting when it comes to Paris. The journey of Cade and Winter takes you through the emotions. You feel what they do….when they do. Can you imagine what I’m like at work?! That is the time I’m glad I’m working alone. I don’t get crazy looks, although I love explaining why. I get a chance to tell them in person how great the book is.

It didn’t take me long to read this, while working on night shift and trying to get some sleep when home. There are few books that I would spend money to buy when I have a digital copy, and this is one of those books I would buy to have in my collection.

Hidden (Avena #1) by  Marianne Curley

Hidden (Avena, #1)

For as long as Ebony can remember, she’s been sheltered. Confined to her home in a secluded valley, home-schooled by her protective parents, and limited to a small circle of close friends. It’s as if she’s being hidden. But something is changing in Ebony. Something that can’t be concealed. She’s growing more beautiful by the day, she’s freakishly strong, and then there’s the fact that she’s glowing.

On one fateful night, Ebony meets Jordan and she’s intensely drawn to him. It’s as if something explodes inside of her–something that can be seen from the heavens. Ebony still doesn’t know that she’s a stolen angel, but now that the heavens have found her, they want her back

My Review

Hidden was a wonderful book. It’s a YA book about a stolen angel that has been living on earth, hidden among a family that does not know of her origin. They believed that she was an orphan, although she came with some odd demands from the one giving her to her new family. She knew that she was different from others. She has purple eyes, and exceptionally strong and fast for someone her age and build.

The beginning starts out with her defying her mother, and sneaking out to go to a dance with her best friend, Amber. Once arriving to the dance she manages to push a boy, Jordan,  into the wall while trying to get out of the vehicle. Once her eyes connect with the one she accidentally body slammed into a brick wall, she feels and instant connection with him. Once she is with her friends one again she cannot get her mind off of Jordan. Who is this boy that has her so mesmerized? Going home after the dance, and learning about her birth causes Ebony to have even more questions about her life. Now on a search, is she going to like the answers she finds?

The combination of just the right about of details, action, and characters/personalities makes this a great book. It was my first book by Marianne Curley, and I was not disappointed. The pace of the story takes you along, and it will make you read “one more chapter” until you end up finishing the book. Another one of the characters you get to learn more about is Thane (Nathanial), who is an angel on the search of the missing angel.

Lick (Stage Dive #1)

Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Lick (Stage Dive, # 1)

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

My Review

Oh goodness! Yummyness! Whatever “-ness” you would like to add! I devoured Lick in one day! I just couldn’t put it down! A barista and a hot tattooed rock god makes for a great book! The action, the romance, the lust, the hurt…..It was all very addicting!

The Stage Dive series  is a NA contemporary/realistic fiction, with Lick being the first book. I enjoy NA as much as I do YA. You make have read Scott’s other series, Flesh, but this was my first by her.

Evelyn Thomas is a 21-year old barista/college student. The story begins at her 21st birthday in Vegas. She gets hammered, and the next day cannot remember much of what happened. She wakes up in the bathroom, and shortly enters the hot tattooed rock god himself, David Ferris. With that comes the bit of news that they had gotten married the night before…now making her Mrs. Evelyn Ferris.

All marriages have their ups and downs throughout it, but how does it work when you don’t even know the person that you are now married to? And to top it off your new husband is a famous rock god. Now enters the “A” word…annulment. When that doesn’t go as planned things start quickly changing. Now is the true test. When your worlds are completely different, can a marriage make it?

Both Evelyn and David have great personalities, and I truly enjoyed getting to know them in the book. Even the other characters had their own personalities, that even though they were different from each other, they all fit together.

I do think that the book would have be SOOO much better if there had been more to it. I’m not saying that it lacked anything. I would have liked the book to have been a bit longer, just so it would have lasted longer!
